If you played in last year’s Ace Race, the disc has a name Sting and was PDGA approved on Nov 7, 2017.
“The global Ace Race evaluates a new Discraft prototype each year with the help of 20,000 testers, and last year the players were once again pleased with the results. The design goal was to create a disc that is easy to control, holds an almost perfect line on all throws, and fits comfortably in most hands. The Sting achieved all of this.
Here’s what the disc can do:
Holds an almost perfect line on big throws
Even new players can hold an anhyzer line with long glide
Rip it for high-speed hyzer flip drives
Delivers long flights to reach maximum distance
Stability rating: 0.0 | Available weight range: 160-174 | Suitable for all players” – by Discraft
We’ve got a lot of events coming up in the next few weeks, here’s a quick chronological summary:
Robert Burnaby Ace Race – Aug 27
This one is in conjunction with Ramham Entertainment who are running the show, we’re just support. There are 34 people pre-registered so far, with 7 spots available. Day of registration will be $40 instead of the pre-registration $35. You can register now.
It’s ON! So there were some hiccups and a few missteps with this one, we’re stepping in to make sure the event still happens. If you have previously registered for the event, please register again. If you have previously paid for the event let us know.
The current plan is to keep it at Quilchena, we’ll do everything we can to make that happen, but if a venue change is required we’ll be at Robert Burnaby as our back-up location. If we need to use the back-up location, people who can no longer make the event will be offered a refund or they can just get their player’s package later.
Burnaby Ace Race is tomorrow, and as of right now, I’ve got 25 or so Player’s Packages left, so you should be able to show up tomorrow and get one. If we sell out, we do try to make it work so that everyone is able to participate, even if they have to use someone else’s discs for the day, and get the full player’s package later.
The Disc Cellar will be on location all day tomorrow, although we’ll have a bit less selection than normal because we’ve got the Ace Race player’s packages to haul out as well.
Here’s the course map for tomorrow as designed by Chris Miki and Owen James, if you like it they get the credit, if you don’t I get the blame.
In addition to The Disc Cellar Open we’re hoping to bring a number of other events to BC this year. We’re looking for Club’s to partner with in order to make this happen. What that probably looks like is The Disc Cellar dealing with the registration, ordering, shipping, player’s packages and all of that stuff. While the Club offers up a course and does local promotion of the event, with some day of setup and take down.
Here’s a list of the 4 main events that we’d like to see happen, let us know if you’re interested:
To be held sometime between May 31st and August 22nd. Here’s what the player’s get:
