If you played in last year’s Ace Race, the disc has a name Sting and was PDGA approved on Nov 7, 2017.
“The global Ace Race evaluates a new Discraft prototype each year with the help of 20,000 testers, and last year the players were once again pleased with the results. The design goal was to create a disc that is easy to control, holds an almost perfect line on all throws, and fits comfortably in most hands. The Sting achieved all of this.
Here’s what the disc can do:
Holds an almost perfect line on big throws
Even new players can hold an anhyzer line with long glide
Rip it for high-speed hyzer flip drives
Delivers long flights to reach maximum distance
Stability rating: 0.0 | Available weight range: 160-174 | Suitable for all players” – by Discraft
Here’s an OOP (out of production) update for you. These discs may still be available directly from Discraft or from dealers, but are no longer being produced, so if it’s important to your game, start a transition plan or stock up. Generally speaking OOP discs increase in value, but these discs may not otherwise be particularly collectible.
D Drone (Pro-D)
D Eclipse (Pro-D) – this was the only version of this model available, it is no longer available in any plastic blend
X Wildcat – this was the only version of this model available, it is no longer available in any plastic blend
If you’ve been sitting on the fence, today is your last day to get off it and register for the Ogopogo Open this weekend in Kelowna. There’s lots of people going so you can probably carpool if that’s a deciding factor. On site camping is free, so you can keep the travel costs down.
We haven’t really been promoting this yet, but essentially our full disc inventory is now on-line in our store. Bags, hats, shirts, minis, stickers, etc… are not there yet, and the details and photos for the discs may be sparse, but the inventory should be accurate. Here’s where we are:
Innova inventory: incomplete (new order arrived yesterday, approximately 100 discs left to enter, and custom stamp inventory needs to be re-verified and completed; big restocking of Bosses, Destroyers, KC Rocs, Pigs and more)
If you’re going to be in Kelowna, make your special requests today/tonight because the full inventory can’t travel with me. There may still be the odd bug in the system, but given there’s about 2,000 discs in the system hopefully you won’t encounter one. Happy shopping.
It’s time again for me do some restocking, first up on the block is Latitude 64 and Westside (still not going to be carrying the full line). Expectation is that I’ll be able to get these ones in for Provincials. So if you’ve got special requests get them in ASAP.
In the near term, I need to do orders with Innova, Dynamic Discs, Discraft, DGA, Millennium, MVP, Axiom and Prodigy. I’ll probably also need to do some bag restocking, as I’m running low on most bags, especially the backpack bags.
So now is the time to get those requests in. If you really want something, but can’t swing it right now, we can figure out some sort of lay away plan or something.
Now accepting pre-orders for the First Run Buzzz OS, available in Z plastic only 164-178g. Price will be $17.50/ea.
Here’s what Discraft has to say about them:
The Discraft Buzzz midrange is the world’s most popular golf disc. Today we are proud to present what is perhaps the most anticipated release in Discraft’s 35 year history: the Buzzz OS.
You depend on your Buzzz for a wide range of shots. You reach for it because of its dependable consistency, controllability and accuracy. Buzzz OS is a Buzzz, only beefier.
Has a headwind kicked up? Buzzz OS. Need a straight shot with a hard finish? Buzzz OS. Want a mid you can dependably forehand on a straight line? Buzzz OS.
The OS stands for overstable: it’s more overstable than a Wasp, much less than a Drone. And Buzzz OS is beadless; it feels like a Buzzz in your hand, lending a familiar confidence that adds up to success when the final score is tallied.
Putting together a Discraft order if anyone is interested in some golf discs or UltraStars. Will be bringing in some Cranks (ESP and Z) along with the Big Z collection. Let me know if you’ve got special requests.
Also, will be bringing in by special order some of those Discraft Hoodies (full zip) which you’ll often see me wearing. They are really nice (I actually have to fight to get mine back sometimes [you know who you are]), but they are the pricier side for clothing at $50.
So with the Disc Cellar Open coming up (registration to open shortly), I need to order stuff for the players packages and do some restocking for summer. In the short term that means orders from Innova and Prodigy. So if there’s anything you’re looking for from either manufacturer now’s the time to let me know, as I can easily add a specific disc to my order. Also, Innova supplies Discmania, so if you want Discmania, I can bring that in at the same time.
In the next couple of weeks, there might be additional orders from Discraft and MVP/Axiom. So if you’ve got requests, better to get them in sooner rather than later.
