‘Tis the season of manufacturer events. This one is unique in that the discs are GLOW. You get your option of playing a day round or an evening round or both. Each round is 18 shortened holes such that they are “par 2’s”. Unlike some other events, you putt out each hole. Lowest total round score wins.
The afternoon and evening sessions are separate, and include their own prizes. If you want to play both sessions, it costs only another $5. If you want to play additional rounds in either the afternoon or evening sessions in order to improve your score, they are $5 each.
If you’ve been sitting on the fence, today is your last day to get off it and register for the Ogopogo Open this weekend in Kelowna. There’s lots of people going so you can probably carpool if that’s a deciding factor. On site camping is free, so you can keep the travel costs down.
We haven’t really been promoting this yet, but essentially our full disc inventory is now on-line in our store. Bags, hats, shirts, minis, stickers, etc… are not there yet, and the details and photos for the discs may be sparse, but the inventory should be accurate. Here’s where we are:
Innova inventory: incomplete (new order arrived yesterday, approximately 100 discs left to enter, and custom stamp inventory needs to be re-verified and completed; big restocking of Bosses, Destroyers, KC Rocs, Pigs and more)
If you’re going to be in Kelowna, make your special requests today/tonight because the full inventory can’t travel with me. There may still be the odd bug in the system, but given there’s about 2,000 discs in the system hopefully you won’t encounter one. Happy shopping.
I’m putting together a Prodigy restocking order, stuff will be available starting at the Ogopogo Open in Kelowna. If you’ve got something specific you’re looking for let me know.
Also of interest are some of their more recent releases:
So that’s the Pa1, Pa4, F1, F2, F3, F5, F7, H1, H2, H3, H4, M1, M2, M3 & M4 in 750 series plastic
M1 400G: The 2016 model of the M1 is over stable and holds the line of release throughout its flight path and then gradually fades left, for right-handed throwers. This midrange has a flat profile that also makes it a good choice for short side arm throws.
My next Prodigy order will be arriving in early/mid-April with an order deadline near the end of March for special requests. What follows is written by Prodigy:
Refine your line with the new H3
Produced in our 750 and 400G plastics, the H3 is a stable to slightly over stable hybrid disc with a little less stability and more glide than the H2.
The H3 features a small micro bead that enables a pure flight line eliminating pitching from left to right. The flight characteristics of the H3 are extremely predictable. Like the H1 and H2, the H3 will not be for the faint-at-heart. Soon to be favored by advanced and pro players.
Release Date: March 16, 2015
Premium Plastics in Lightweights are Here
Seven of our top models are being released in a variety of lighter weights. Starting at 140 grams, the following discs will be available in our 400G premium plastic.
D1 | D3 | H1 | F2 | F5 | M2 | M4
Towels Back in Stock
With all that snow melting, players are going to need a lot of towels!
These Microfibre towels have the Prodigy Disc logo. They are super lightweight and extra absorbent. These towels are 12″ x 24″ (30 cm x 60 cm)
Prodigy towels are some of my most requested towels, but have been out of stock from the manufacturer for 6 months. I’ll get some in the April order, but if you want a bunch, or specific colours you should let me know.
Illuminate your game with Prodigy Glow. Prodigy Glow is an intense glow blend, currently available in our 400 series plastic. Even on the darkest nights, you can still light up the course. Don’t get left in the dark!
Models available starting December 2nd, 2014. Pricing will be $20.00.
Also now available from Prodigy are their toques (although they don’t call them that):
Disc Golf doesn’t stop for winter and neither should you. We’ve designed these winter hats to keep you warm on the course. Available in two styles, these 100% acrylic hats will suit everyone.
The SKULL CAP has plenty of stretch for a great fit and shape retention. It is available in Black, Navy Blue, Light Blue, Pink and Gray.
The KNIT CAP features a 3-inch folding cuff for extra warmth over the ears, branded with the Prodigy logo. It is available in Black & White.
Both models of Winter Hats are One Size Fits Most, and will be $15.
Locking in the date early, this is a new one of those events being established by the Disc Golf manufacturers. Prodigy PAR2. I don’t have all the details nailed down yet, which is part of the fun, but here’s what I do know:
PAR2 is a casual, unsanctioned tournament with nine to fifteen 150′ and under holes. The goal is to run at aces, card 2’s, and have fun. Whoever cards the lowest round wins. Players must use the provided disc in their players’ pack for all throws. It is a great way to promote the sport of disc golf, involve beginners, and have a great time during the offseason! [we don’t have an offseason, do we?]
PAR2 players packs are a great value for the participants. Players packs include a PAR2 exclusive disc, Prodigy Disc hat, and a large Prodigy Disc decal. The player’s package has a value of $40+ but will cost you only $25.
You will get to pick your disc when you sign up, either the 750 series Pa1 or 750 series Pa4. At this time, these discs in that plastic are exclusive to the PAR2 events and will not be made available for general sale.
January 24, 2015 (square in the middle between Duck Golf events)
To be determined, and this is where I need suggestions. We’re supposed to be playing holes from 80′ – 150′ in length and only 9-15 holes, so we don’t need a big course. The event is supposed to be an event, with the emphasis on having fun, so we want to be able to put together a fun layout. I’m open to suggestions for where people want to play (keep in mind the discs are both putters). Here’s the courses that I’ve been considering so far:
Winskill Park (Tsawwassen)
Mundy Park (Coquitlam)
Thornhill Park (Maple Ridge) [tonals]
Robert Burnaby Park (Burnaby)
Frequently Asked Questions
When will registration open?
By early next week (December 13th at the latest).
When will registration close?
January 12th, 2015, so that the discs arrive on time.
Can I get more than one player’s package?
Yes, registration will give you that option, and we’ll sell the extra packages at the event if we have extras. If you want more than one, the next one will be discounted a bit, and if you want even more, we’ll try to pass along bigger discounts.
What are the discs?
You get your choice of either one Pa1 or one Pa4 in the new 750 series plastic.
We developed the stiffness of the 750 plastic, taking into consideration the preference of the world’s top-level players. It is a combination of premium resins making it considerably stiffer than our 400 series plastic but with the same grip and feel. The durability of the 750 material is a step above that of the 400 series, making it one of the toughest plastics on the market.
Will there be divisions?
At this point it looks like we’ll be able to offer prizes to different divisions, so depending on registration we expect to offer prizes to multiple divisions. Probably: Pro, Senior Grandmaster, Womens and Junior, maybe more depending on registration. We’ll confirm this as soon as we can.
Do I need to be a member?
No special memberships required for this event. Everyone welcome.
It’s time again for me do some restocking, first up on the block is Latitude 64 and Westside (still not going to be carrying the full line). Expectation is that I’ll be able to get these ones in for Provincials. So if you’ve got special requests get them in ASAP.
In the near term, I need to do orders with Innova, Dynamic Discs, Discraft, DGA, Millennium, MVP, Axiom and Prodigy. I’ll probably also need to do some bag restocking, as I’m running low on most bags, especially the backpack bags.
So now is the time to get those requests in. If you really want something, but can’t swing it right now, we can figure out some sort of lay away plan or something.
One of the advantages of being a dealer is that I get email about all the new releases generally before the public. I’m going to start sharing more information about what’s new as it comes through.
So here’s what’s new with Prodigy at the moment:
Catrina Allen World Championship Disc: limited edition stamp (run of 1,200 discs total) on the D1 and M4.
H1: “is considered a hybrid disc that will fill the gap between the F1 and the X1. Produced in the new 750 series plastic, the H1 is extremely over stale for 90% of players, and has a speed of 9-10. It is highly predictable in strong wind play and will become a favourite of both side arm and overhand throwers.”
750 Fairways: The F3 and F5 are now available in 750 series plastic. “We developed the stiffness of the 750 plastic, taking into consideration the preference of the world’s top-level players. It is a combination of premium resins making it considerably stiffer than our 400 series plastic but with the same grip and feel. The durability of the 750 material is a step above that of the 400 series, making it one of the toughest plastics on the market.
Coming Soon: 750 Series M3 and M4.
Given that I just restocked Prodigy I have no immediate plans to bring in any of these discs, but if they are what you’re looking for let me know, as I’m open to ordering earlier.
