Congratulations to Team Disc Cellar are in order after solid performances in the first two rounds by all players.

Derek Wintermans sits tied for 3rd place (Pro Open) at even par (6 strokes back of Matt Dixon [1st], but 4 strokes clear of Dave Ross [5th]), with two rounds above his rating 998 and 974 (compared to current rating of 949).

Keep up the good work, but we’re proud of your day 1 performance regardless!

Good Luck at Provincials!

Provincials is underway this weekend in Kelowna, and we’d like to wish everyone good golf and good luck. Although we’re not on-site this weekend, we are a major event sponsor with a noticeable on course presence.

Find our tee-sign and snap a picture with it to be entered into a draw! Post it to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram and tag us so we know it’s there.

We’d also like to give a special shout out to the Team Disc Cellar members competing this weekend: Wes Eccleston, Derek Wintermans and Jordan Moens.

2015 BC Provincials: Results & Housekeeping

If you were an event participant you’ve probably already received an email with the following information, but in the event that you did not receive that email.

Folks,

The following message is being forwarded to you on behalf of John Bowers, Tournament Manager of the 2015 BC Provincials.

To: all registered players of the recent 2015 BC Provincials

The results from the 2015 British Columbia Provincial Championship are posted here:

http://www.pdga.com/tour/event/21825

If you think your score was different than what appears on the website, it may be that the total of one of your rounds was added incorrectly, as there were a number of such scorecard errors.  Under the PDGA rules (805.02), a two stroke penalty is added to the correct total score in these instances.

Lost and Found:
  • Lost: a wallet / mini clip.  If you found this, please contact me and I’ll put you in touch with the player to whom it belongs.
  • Found: a grey jacket, brand “Columbia”; also a black umbrella.  If either of these are yours, contact me to describe and arrange to pick up.
Thank You!

Thanks again to all of the sponsors, listed below, whose funding and merchandise added to the prizes.  The prize payout percentage for Pro and Amateur divisions both exceeded 100% of the net entry fees.  (Net entry fees = entry fee minus greens fee and PDGA fee.)

Thanks also to the volunteers, organizers and all of the players who helped make this event so successful.

John Bowers, Tournament Manager

Sponsors:

I’d like to add my thanks to everyone who contributed to the event, I had a great time despite the weather. If you have questions or concerns about your scores on the PDGA website (including incorrect or missing PDGA numbers), you should first address those with the Tournament Manager/Director. If you are unable to resolve the issue, you can then escalate to me as the PDGA rep for BC, but the TD is your first step.

If you didn’t manage to get yourself one of the beautiful Provincial discs, there are more still available (everything except Gators), they will be listed on the Disc Cellar’s online store by colour and weight this weekend. Thank you again to Michael Ramanauskas of Washline for the design. We also have some minis left over, if you need another one.

I’ll also add that if you have the opportunity to thank a sponsor for contributing to an event please do so. It provides a tangible recognition that their sponsorship was recognized and appreciated.

On Location: Pender

Tomorrow is a travel day, although if everything goes according to plan I’ll be at the Pender Island Golf & Country Club at check-in. I am playing at the event, so the majority of my discs will be travelling to the Am courses.

If you’re not getting personalized service on Pender, expect response times to be longer this weekend, and new orders will not ship until next week.

Provincials: CFR and TFR what do YOU want?!?

We’re quickly pulling some details together, and it looks like this is all going to work (there’s still a chance it falls apart, but it’s small). So here’s what the current plan is (subject to change), everyone will get a mini to help you remember the event (I know it’s small, but small is better than nothing, and it’s sponsorship and not coming out of your payouts).

Then, there will be some custom stamped discs available for sale at the event, and possibly pre-order as well. Artwork is being generated by the lovely and talented Michael Ramanauskas of the LDGC and washline.com.

We’ll be partnering with Innova for the custom stamping on this, so that means you have a short window where you can make your preferences known for what you’d like to see us order…

So if you see something you really want to throw, or collect, let us know. Personally I’m leaning towards Champ Metal Flake Gators, Champ Metal Flake Terns, R-Pro XDs, Colour Glow Champion Boss and maybe some Yeti’s. But I’m open to suggestions.

Provincials Check-in

The following is a note from the Provincials TDs:

We encourage all participants to arrive on Friday, officially sign-in and pick up your tournament booklet, then relax and play disc golf at either or both of the two courses. For any participants who are unable to arrive before sign-in closes on Friday evening, you will be permitted to sign-in on Saturday morning from 8:30am until 8:55am. Note: the ferry from Swartz Bay to Pender departs at 5:50am on Saturday morning.

I believe that I’ve changed all references within the registration information to reflect this update, but if I haven’t, please consider this post the current authority on the matter.

2015 British Columbia Provincial Championships

This September, the Golf Islands Disc Park celebrates its 35th anniversary!  Join us to participate in the BC Provincials tournament on Pender Island. This will be the first time the Pender Island Golf and Country Club will be utilized as one of the two courses for the tournament. There will be many benefits, both for participants and viewers.

September 19th and 20th,, 2015 are the dates of the tournament, which consists of two rounds on Saturday and one round on Sunday.  The top four players in the Open division will play a final nine, which will enable the rest of us in the gallery to watch the best disc golfers in BC.

On Friday, September 18th  by 1:30 pm, we will have the disc golf course set up at the Pender Island Golf and Country Club for participants to check-in and practice for the remainder of the day.  There is no additional cost for play on the Friday as this is covered in your $9 greens fee.

All players must check-in between 3 pm and 8 pm on Friday at the Pender Island Golf and Country Club.  No Exceptions.

This is a PDGA C-Tier sanctioned event. We are not assembling players’ packages, thereby keeping the fees lower and organization simpler.  There will however be some draw prizes to be won.  There is added cash for the Pros and added prizes for the Ams.

The Disc Cellar will be making the trip, and supplying the amateur prizes. Join us!

Provincials: Cancellations and the Wait list

There have been some cancellations for Provincials, I’ll be processing those refunds and removing people from the list today. That means that I’ll also be reaching out to player’s on the wait list to confirm their spots, and otherwise move people up the list. To help out with this endeavour, if people could do the following:

  • If you’re registered for the event, but will not be attending, let me know ASAP so someone else can get in
  • If you’re on the wait list and would not accept a spot if it was offered to you at this point, let me know so that we don’t waste time and offer the spot to the next person on the list
  • If you’re on the wait list, check your email and respond promptly to accept or reject a spot

Thank you for your help. Just a final comment, I’m dealing with all the registration stuff, but player caps are the realm of the TD so if you want to lobby for more capacity reach out to the TD because I can’t help you with that one.

Provincials: Registered Players List

I’m getting a lot of questions about registered players.  The official registered player’s list is the one on The Disc Cellar website: http://disccellar.ca/event-registration/bc-disc-golf-provincials/registered-players/

The list at the PDGA website, is manually updated by the TD, and you should not be concerned if you do not appear on this list, so long as you do appear on the other list.  Again, make sure you’re listed on the list of registered players on the Disc Cellar website, the PDGA list is not definitive.
